University of Connecticut is seeking an experienced Web Application Developer to design, build, deploy, and support a growing portfolio of institutional applications. You will work across the full software lifecycle, collaborating with designers, staff, students, and partners to deliver reliable, scalable web solutions.

The role requires strong server-side development skills, relational databases, API integrations, and experience with modern frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field with at least four years of professional software development experience.
• Experience developing server-side applications using a modern web application framework.
• Experience working with relational databases, SQL, and data-driven applications.
• Experience using Git or another distributed version control system in a collaborative environment.
• Experience troubleshooting across multiple components of a web application environment and APIs.
• Experience using AI tooling to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance production web applications and institutional software platforms.
• Develop server-side applications using modern web frameworks with emphasis on secure, maintainable code.
• Collaborate with designers, product staff, and stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain integrations with data sources, APIs, authentication systems, and external services.
• Design and work with relational databases, data models, and data integrations.
• Support deployment and operation in Linux-based server environments.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across code, servers, databases, and infrastructure.
• Contribute to deployment processes, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and DevOps practices.
• Ensure applications meet security, performance, reliability, usability, and accessibility standards.
