Job summary

Innovega, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Systems Mechanical Engineer – Technical Lead to drive end-to-end mechanical design of wearable smart glasses.

You’ll lead cross-functional teams from concept through mass production, balancing size, weight, comfort, and reliability while ensuring manufacturability and cost targets. You will provide technical direction, mentor contractors, and collaborate with industrial designers, optical, electrical, software engineers, and suppliers to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience for complex consumer products.
• Strong CAD and thermal simulation/analysis background.
• Experience with plastics design, injection molding, and tight packaging integration.
• Experience designing for dust and water ingress (IP65+).
• Experience taking products from concept to mass production.
• Proven ability to own problems end-to-end and solve them with minimal guidance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design system-level mechanical components for wearable smart glasses, prioritizing size, weight, comfort, durability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design to define mechanical solutions and ensure manufacturability.
• Develop and review CAD designs and apply DFX best practices.
• Oversee prototype builds, validation, and reliability testing; manage transitions to mass production.
• Lead technical reviews and provide direction to internal teams and contractors.
