Job summary

The Washington Trust Company Wealth Management division seeks an experienced Relationship Manager to deliver exceptional service to high-net-worth clients. You will be the primary client contact, coordinating complex administrative and fiduciary activities with accuracy and strong compliance.

Based in Providence, RI, this hybrid role involves collaborating with Portfolio Managers and other specialists to deliver integrated wealth solutions, conduct regular client reviews, and drive relationship

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in wealth management, trust administration, or financial services operations.
  • Strong knowledge of trust and fiduciary administration, investment operations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CTFA or CFP are a plus.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a proactive and client-focused mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with wealth management systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Client relationship management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, beneficiaries, family members, professional advisors, and centers of influence.
  • Client reviews and planning coordination: Conduct regular review meetings to discuss relationship objectives, service expectations, investment coordination, and planning issues.
  • Client knowledge and continuity: Understand each client's family dynamics, wealth structure, and long-term goals.
  • Relationship growth: Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through Wealth Management and other Bank services.
  • Compliance and risk management: Ensure adherence to policies, regulatory requirements, and risk controls.
  • Complex issue resolution: Serve as a subject matter expert for complex administrative matters.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.
  • Audit and regulatory support: Prepare documentation and respond to inquiries.
  • Team guidance: Mentor junior team members on best practices.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate client records and documentation.

Job description

Washington Trust Wealth Management is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Relationship Manager to deliver exceptional service to high-net-worth clients. This role serves as a key client contact and is responsible for managing complex administrative and operational activities with accuracy, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to compliance and service excellence. The Relationship Manager works closely with Portfolio Managers, Wealth Advisors, Financial Planners, banking partners, tax professionals, and fiduciary specialists to deliver integrated wealth management solutions.

The ideal candidate brings strong relationship management capabilities, sound fiduciary and operational judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client relationship management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, beneficiaries, family members, professional advisors, and centers of influence.
  • Client reviews and planning coordination: Conduct regular review meetings to discuss relationship objectives, administrative matters, family needs, service expectations, investment coordination, estate and financial planning issues, and opportunities for additional services.
  • Client knowledge and continuity: Maintain a thorough understanding of each client's family dynamics, wealth structure, estate planning objectives, financial circumstances, risk considerations, and long-term goals.
  • Relationship growth: Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through Wealth Management and other Bank services.
  • Compliance and risk management: Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk controls.
  • Complex issue resolution: Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex administrative matters.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Audit and regulatory support: Support audits and regulatory reviews by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Team guidance: Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date client records and documentation.
Qualifications:

We anticipate this role will be hybrid and based out of our Wealth offices in Providence, Rhode Island.

Compensation: The good-faith, reasonable base salary range for this role is $90,000-$115,000. Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. This role may be eligible for an annual bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This base salary reflects one component of our competitive compensation package.
