Job description

We are seeking a Wealth Advisor to join the Washington, DC team of a nationally recognized, rapidly growing independent RIA. This role is built for a hungry, relationship-driven CFP professional who wants to grow a practice with the full backing of a collaborative team, a deep firm platform, and leadership that shows up alongside you.

You’ll start with a set of existing client relationships so you’re advising from day one, then focus on building your practice with clients in the $1–5 million range with support from your leadership team. You’ll get access to the firm’s established network of centers of influence (CPAs, attorneys, etc), plus a dedicated business development representative for the DC market.

It’s an opportunity to build something of your own, with real upside, at a firm that has recently secured new growth capital and is investing heavily in advisor growth, lead generation, and the DC market.

This is a hybrid role, with new hires working primarily in the office until acclimated to the team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive new client growth through referrals, existing centers of influence, community involvement, professional and alumni networks, and events aligned with your interests.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to families and individuals.
  • Deliver comprehensive wealth planning across all aspects of a family's financial well-being, including financial planning and budgeting, holistic balance sheet advice (cash and debt), asset allocation and investments, estate and tax planning, insurance analysis and review, and charitable strategy.
  • Apply strong knowledge of capital markets and asset allocation to guide client decisions.
  • Present confidently and persuasively to prospective clients and win their trust.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop best practices for building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, detail, and organization across client and internal work.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience as a client-facing wealth advisor.
  • CFP designation required (exceptional candidates holding a CPA, CFA, or JD may be considered).
  • Series 65 required, or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated business development drive and a track record of growing client relationships.
  • Polished, confident presence with prospective and high-net-worth clients.
  • RIA experience preferred; candidates from wirehouses, banks, trust companies, and other channels are welcome.
  • Experience with financial planning software (MoneyGuide or eMoney).
  • Expertise with law firm compensation structures is a strong plus; experience serving physicians or deep insurance knowledge is also valued.
  • Team-oriented, high-integrity, curious, and coachable, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary of $175,000–$200,000, commensurate with experience, with a compensation model built on a competitive percentage of revenue served as your practice grows, and a likely new business incentive component.
