Job summary

Würth Elektronik Group in Plano, TX seeks a Reference Design Development Engineer to develop, test, and document evaluation boards translating end‑application requirements into robust reference designs. You will collaborate with customers, product management, and engineers to demonstrate performance under specified conditions.

Responsibilities include creating eval boards using CAD tools for schematics and PCB layouts, performing EMI/EMC tests, and preparing application notes and test reports.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or BSET degree or 5 years professional experience in electrical design and characterization.
  • Experience with reference designs and evaluation boards.
  • Familiar with EMI/EMC testing standards and lab procedures.

  • Development of reference design eval boards.
  • Electrical measurements to validate component performance using eval boards.
  • Create evaluation boards using CAD tools for schematics, PCB layouts, and circuit simulation.
  • Demonstrate test procedures and present results to customers.
  • Collaborate with laboratories to conduct EMI/EMC tests per IEC/EN61000, CISPR, and customer requirements.
  • Correlate component performance on eval boards to device parameters.

Position Summary

Develop, test, and document reference designs for new products by collaborating with customers, product management, and product definition engineers. Translate end application requirements to evaluation boards that demonstrate component performance under specific operating conditions. Create evaluation boards for reference designs using CAD tools for schematics, PCB layouts, and circuit simulation. Demonstrate test procedures and present results to customers. Collaborate with local laboratories and other Wurth locations to conduct EMI/EMC tests in accordance with standards such as IEC/EN61000, CISPR, and specific customer requirements.

  • Proficiency with CAD for mechanical or physical design, AutoCAD or other

  • Proficiency with CAD for circuit design, LT Spice, Spice or other

  • Proficiency with CAD for pcb design, Altium, Cadence, PADS, KiCad or other

  • Working experience with

  • Oscilloscope

  • Vector network Analyzer

  • Impedance Analyzers

  • Power electronics circuit measurements

  • Efficiency

  • Ripple Current

  • Transient Response

  • Working familiarity with test equipment for characterizing passive components

  • Soldering and component replacement

  • Trouble shooting hardware issues

  • Personable interaction skills

  • Witten documentation skills
