POSITION TITLE: PE Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Physical Education 190 Days
REPORTS TO: Principal
PAY SCALE: Based on experience and certification
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Provides instruction that is appropriate to the standards of the courses being taught. Exhibits professionalism in all job-related situations; follows professional ethics in all work-related activities; presents a personal appearance that enhances the image of the school. Assumes a fair share of outside-the-classroom school responsibilities. Adheres to local school procedures and regulations in a supportive manner; demonstrates loyalty to the school and its leadership; avoids behavior that detracts from staff morale; works cooperatively with colleagues and the community; helps maintain a positive, cooperative climate. Promotes a positive school environment that enhances student learning. Maintains plans according to policies and/or directives. Promotes the responsible use of materials and equipment. Submits accurate paperwork on schedule. Maintains required work schedules in a punctual manner; demonstrates responsible attendance and use of leave. Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent. Accounts for student attendance and punctuality. Follows all district, state, and federal policies and procedures. Directs the conduct of students in accordance with policies at all times. Takes all reasonable measures to protect students’ health and safety. Seeks to improve through professional development and evaluation activities. Maintains prompt and professional communication with all stakeholders. Participate in system athletic meetings as needed. Be a liaison between all varsity coaches and system athletic directors. Distribute athletic information as needed to include tryouts, practice schedules and cancellations, ticket sales, varsity coach visits, etc. Athletic physicals: Communicate dates, assist with paperwork distribution and collection, and assist with an actual trip to take athletes for physicals. Middle school athletes: Assist with the organization of participating students, afternoon transportation supervision, and communication with coaches on attendance. Communicate with coaches and system directors on potential athletes. Collaborate with coaches and system directors to develop programs and activities to develop athletic programs in RCS. Develop intramural athletic opportunities at the elementary level. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor Degree Certification/License
Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate or Meet eligibility requirements for a Georgia Induction Certificate.
Skills: Acceptable criminal background check. Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. Professional written and oral communication skills. The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
