Job summary

Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar is seeking a Barback to support bar staff and enhance guest experiences. You will help maintain bar readiness, stock and prep ingredients, and ensure smooth shift operations.

The role requires stamina, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant setting while upholding safety and cleanliness standards. Expect long hours standing and teamwork with bartenders and kitchen staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interact with guests and staff in a professional, positive manner.
• Assist bar staff by filling ice wells and stocking liquor as needed.
• Ensure beer, wine and cordials are stocked.
• Refill and date mixers, juices, and syrups.
• Prepare garnishes and set up the bar top for service.
• Empty bus tubs and prebus the bar top.
• Make batch cocktails following recipes; manage batch system changes.
• Be punctual and wear proper uniform for shifts.
• Safely operate juicing machines and maintain pars for the bar.
• Follow management and bartender directions.
• Know the menu thoroughly to answer guest questions.
• Obtain and keep required certifications.
• Set up and break down the bar before and after shifts and clean surfaces.

Assist the bar staff in any way possible to ensure great guest experiences and a smooth shift for the entire restaurant.

Whiskey Cake is seeking a Barback!

Responsibilities

• Interacting with guests and staff members professionally and positively.
• Assist the bar staff in filling ice wells, as well as stocking wells with the necessary amount of liquor bottles.
• Ensuring beer bottles, wine, and cordials are stocked.
• Refilling and dating mixers, juices, and syrups.
• Cut fruit and other garnishes, and make sure the bar is set up for success.
• Empty bus tubs and prebus the bar top.
• Make batch cocktails according to proper recipes, as well as understand the batch system to ensure proper changing of canisters.
• Arriving for the shift on time and ready to work in proper uniform.
• Use juicing machines in a safe, sanitary manner, while ensuring pars for the bar are met.
• Following directions from management, as well as the bartenders.
• All barbacks should have extensive knowledge of the menu and should be able to answer any guest’s questions about food or drinks.
• Obtain and update any required certifications.
• Set up and break down the bar area before and after each shift, while cleaning floors, bar top, and wells.
• Emptying trash cans and washing dishes using the bar machine.
