DescriptionPosition Summary

The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Specialist is responsible for developing and managing work-based learning opportunities that prepare students for successful careers, higher education, or advanced training. This position ensures eligible students participate in meaningful on- and off-Center work experiences while gaining the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to become employment-ready. The WBL Specialist builds strong partnerships with employers and community organizations, develops WBL agreements, monitors work sites, provides student transportation as required, and ensures accurate and compliant student documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the Center's Work-Based Learning Program.
  • Ensure eligible students participate in appropriate on- and off-Center WBL assignments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and community partners.
  • Identify WBL opportunities, establish MOUs, and conduct required site visits, OSHA inspections, and student supervision.
  • Promote the WBL Program to students and staff and communicate the value of hands-on work experience.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant WBL documentation and student data.
  • Monitor student performance, attendance, accountability, and progress toward employment goals.
  • Provide employability and career counseling, mentoring, and support to students.
  • Update student career and development plans and identify and address barriers to student success.
  • Provide transportation services in accordance with Center requirements.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and provide leadership to WBL program staff.
  • Ensure program activities support and meet DOL and Company performance goals.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment.
  • Collaborate with all Center departments to provide effective student supervision and services.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce Career Success Standards and positive workplace behaviors.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, employers, and management.
  • Identify problems, develop solutions, and follow through to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Maintain high standards of attendance, accountability, productivity, and work quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Previous experience in group facilitation, student management, workforce development, career counseling, or Job Corps preferred.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, employers, community partners, and Center staff.
  • Valid in-state driver's license required.
  • Must meet Company insurability requirements.
