Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Redmond, Oregon, is seeking a Lead Wax Assembler to both assemble wax patterns and provide leadership to a manufacturing team.

• Coach and train new employees and coordinate on-the-job training.
• Manage staffing schedule and allocate work to operators to meet TP/LTPO goals.
• Collaborate with engineering on process changes and improvements.

Job description

This is a working Lead role where you will both assemble wax patterns and provide exceptional leadership to your team.

What You'll Do

Leadership

• Champion Safety and 6S Initiatives
• Hold team accountable for following all policies and procedures
• Prioritize workflow and keep key parts moving for TP plan or LTPO recovery
• Demonstration of excellent communication skills
• Answer questions regarding the processing of parts
• Verify daily staffing and report any staffing issues/needs to Supervisor
• Assign work to operators
• Assess training needs and coordinate training as needed
• Move operators to different job assignments that they are qualified to perform
• Stop the work of operators, if appropriate (in the absence of a supervisor)
• Audit the quality and quantity of work performed by operators
• Provide input to Supervisors regarding operator punctuality, tardiness, and other aspects of overall performance
• Assume responsibility of routine operations in a Supervisor's absence
• Must be able to establish and track T-put plans for MS 1
• Clean, trim, shape, and prepare wax patterns using handheld tools and specialized materials
• Follow detailed work instructions, manufacturing procedures, and production standards
• Assemble precision components to create wax pattern assemblies
• Perform visual inspections and quality checks to identify defects and ensure product compliance
• Accurately handle small parts and components in a production environment
• Maintain quality, productivity, and safety standards throughout the manufacturing process
• Keep workstations organized, clean, and production-ready
• Collaborate with team members to review assemblies and maintain product quality
• Support engineering and process changes as new products and improvements are introduced
• Assist with training and mentoring new employees as skills develop
• Work from drawings, photographs, work instructions, and production documentation
• Follow all safety procedures and properly use required equipment and PPE
• Identify and report safety concerns and opportunities for continuous improvement
• Support production goals and contribute to on-time delivery performance
• Perform other manufacturing and production-related duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as Wax Assembler required
• Leadership experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to read work instructions and complete basic documentation
• Lift and move up to 35 lbs.
• Stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Use hand tools and assembly equipment comfortably
• Perform repetitive hand movements and detailed assembly tasksWork in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures
