Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in the United States is seeking a Watershed Restoration Engineer to lead technical efforts across multiple agencies and partners in western Virginia. You will coordinate with engineers, hydrologists, and biologists to design and implement restoration projects, monitor contractor performance, and ensure adherence to plans and schedules.

Qualified candidates have a science-focused master's degree, professional engineer licensure preferred, and strong data analysis,

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in science field with 5 years of experience or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred with 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience manipulating, analyzing and interpreting environmental data.
  • Experience leading or participating on cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing complex projects including financial aspects and coordinating peers and partners.
  • Experience communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with TNC, USFS and partners on aquatic restoration programs.
  • Provide technical supervision of projects and assess contractor progress.
  • Oversee third-party project prep and A&E contracts.
  • Lead conservation planning, research and stewardship activities.
  • Develop watershed restoration designs, road-stream crossing assessments and drawings.
