King County's Department of Natural Resources and Parks invites current employees to apply for a Watershed Modeler (Engineer III) role within the Toxic Contaminants Assessment Unit in Seattle.

This internal opportunity is a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) with an anticipated duration of about 2 years and 3 months, focusing on hydrologic and water quality modeling using the WQBE toolkit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, environmental science, environmental engineering or closely related discipline.
• Five years of experience with lumped parameter, grid, and/or hybrid watershed modeling frameworks.
• Three years of independent work in ESRI GIS applications (ArcMap/ArcPro).
• Experience using R, MATLAB, Python or VBA for statistical analyses and data processing.
• Professional project management experience (scope, schedule, budget).

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, monitor, and control scope, schedule, and costs with internal toolkit clients.
• Serve as project manager for WQBE projects, defining tasks, schedules, and budgets; review consultant products and invoices.
• Modify watershed models (LSPC) and optimization models (SUSTAIN) and run new analyses.
• Develop tools (GIS layers, Storymap) to visualize results for diverse audiences; write scripts to process data for models.
• Draft technical memos and presentations to explain modelling outcomes and document analyses.
