Job summary

King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division seeks a Workforce Development Lead to oversee recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and placement for entry-level candidates pursuing public-sector careers in water treatment. The role leads cross-unit collaboration and develops career pathways, with emphasis on equity and environmental justice.

You will guide program design, coordinate guest speakers, and provide strategic advice for complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives, while communicating results

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, social work, public administration, or a related field.
  • Five years or more of experience in project or program management.
  • Five years or more of experience providing career coaching, recruitment, training, or social services.
  • Five or more years of community outreach and engagement experience, with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cohort recruitment, onboarding, training, assignment generation, mentoring, and job placement.
  • Build relationships with internal partners for tours, workshops, and career development activities.
  • Coordinate guest speakers from planning, engineering, project management, and other units.
  • Perform strategic planning and labor market analysis to design career pathways.
  • Manage program communications, reports, and stakeholder engagement; track metrics.
