Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Watershed Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater team in Jackson, MS. The role supports watershed planning, stormwater, drainage, and water resources projects for municipal, state, and private clients across the region.

The ideal candidate has a strong hydrology/hydraulics foundation, EI certification with ability to obtain PE in MS, and experience with HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS, HY-8, SWMM, GIS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 3–8 years of relevant watershed engineering experience (stormwater, drainage, water resources).
• EI certification with ability to obtain PE licensure in MS within a reasonable timeframe preferred.
• Knowledge of Mississippi drainage criteria, stormwater regulations, floodplain management, and permitting preferred.
• Experience preparing engineering reports, drainage studies, calculations, construction plans, and permitting documentation.

Responsabilités

• Support watershed planning, stormwater drainage, and water resources projects from concept through construction.
• Model hydrologic and hydraulic systems for watershed studies and floodplain analyses.
• Prepare technical reports, drainage studies, calculations, exhibits, and construction documents.
• Assist with watershed master planning, flood mitigation, erosion control, and stormwater management planning.
• Coordinate with managers, engineers, planners, and clients to deliver practical solutions within schedules and budgets.
• Support permitting and regulatory coordination with FEMA, USACE, MDEQ, and local/state agencies.
• Participate in field investigations, data collection, and construction support activities.
• Utilize HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, GIS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D to support analyses and design.
