Gray’s Specialty Equipment segment offers a comprehensive range of expert services to design, manufacture, integrate, install, and maintain some of the most advanced systems on the market. The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN, and Waconia, MN. Anderson Dahlen delivers end-to-end equipment design-build and contract manufacturing, with precision fabrication – cutting, forming, machining, welding, finishing, and complex assemblies – backed by engineering, integration, and complete process solutions including skids and sanitary platforms tailored to customer applications. Anderson Dahlen is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant.

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $22-$29/hour.

  • Day shift: work hours are 4/10 hour days, Monday-Thursday
  • Night shift: work hours are 4/10 hour days, Monday-Thursday, 15% shift differential
  • Weekend shift: work hours are 3/12 hour days, Friday-Sunday, 15% shift differential

POSITION SUMMARY

The Waterjet Operator is responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating high-pressure waterjet equipment to process materials and produce high-quality parts. The role may support entry-level through experienced waterjet operations, with responsibilities assigned based on skill level, experience, and business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate, load, and unload high-pressure waterjet equipment to produce parts that meet quality, dimensional, and production requirements.
  • Set up jobs, verify programs, establish offsets, inspect parts, and perform deburring as required.
  • Study and interpret drawings, specifications, manuals, work instructions, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Meet or exceed expected production rates while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Use applicable computer software, drawings, DXF files, and Flow process knowledge to support waterjet operations.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make adjustments within established capabilities; report machine malfunctions to management as needed.
  • Communicate with management, production control, shift supervisors, and other operators regarding assignments, job status, quality concerns, and production issues.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Safely use forklift, crane, and rigging equipment as required for material handling.
  • Complete required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
  • Assist with programming, pathing, and process improvements based on experience level.
  • Troubleshoot routine production or quality issues and elevate concerns when appropriate.
  • Work independently or with guidance depending on assigned level, training, and complexity of work.
  • Ability to solve problems, communicate effectively, follow safety procedures, and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Waterjet Operator I: entry-level to 1 year of related manufacturing, machine operation, fabrication, or waterjet experience preferred.
  • Waterjet Operator II: 1–3 years of related waterjet, machine operation, fabrication, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must possess basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division to support measurement and production calculations.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and their application, including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
  • Forklift and crane experience preferred; ability to obtain required certifications as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The company fosters a manufacturing-type environment. Moderately heavy work requires the occasional lifting of objects weighing 50 pounds or less. In the performance of essential duties, the incumbent may be required to operate a variety of industrial machining tools.
