Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Waterfront Coordinator for summer 2027 to supervise and coordinate all facets of the waterfront program at Camp Ocoee. You will oversee safety, staff training, schedules for swims and waterfront activities, and incident logging.

The role requires a strong swimmer with outdoor camp experience, Lifeguard Certification, and leadership capabilities. Training is provided, and the position runs May 24–July 31, 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be 20 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Must hold a current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Requires a valid driver's license.
• Strong swimmer and extensive water experience.
• Proven experience working with children.
• Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Good understanding of risk management and safety.
• Positive, energetic, reliable, self-motivated, and patient attitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the paddlepad.

• Maintain accurate incident logs and attend staff meetings and trainings.

Camp Dates: May 24, 2027 - July 31, 2027 (first two weeks are mandatory training).

Physical Demands:

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including hiking, running, crouching, and carrying children
• Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings and varying weather conditions and temperatures

Training:

• Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 (provided by Y upon hire)
• Y Camp training required before camp sessions, including online safety courses
• New Employee Orientation required within one week of hire
