Job summary

The YMCA Camp Ocoee is seeking a Water Ski Coordinator for summer 2027 to guide the water ski program and drive a boat, ensuring safety and fun for campers.

Candidates should be strong swimmers with extensive water ski experience, hold a boating license and a valid driver's license, and have proven experience working with children. Training and certifications will be provided by the Y prior to camp sessions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years of age or older.
• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Valid boating license required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong swimmer and extensive water ski experience.
• Knowledge of boat operations.
• Proven experience working with children.
• Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• A good understanding of risk management and safety.
• Positive, energetic, reliable, self-motivated, and patient attitude.

Camp Coordinator Mandatory Training Dates: May 24, 2027 - June 4, 2027

Camp Dates: June 6 - July 31, 2027

At the Y, we believe in making a positive impact . As a Water Ski Coordinator you will be responsible for the water ski program, including driving the boat!

• Focus on safety and fun with water skiing
• Plan and organize water ski activities for groups of campers
• Create tailored schedules based on children's age groups and interests
• Monitor the care of the boats
• Instruct water skiing and wakeboarding
• Demonstrate leadership on the water and in your involvement of other camp activities and events
• Address behavioral issues and ensure safety rules are followed
• Perform first aid or provide care for injuries as needed
• Maintain accurate incident logs and attend staff meetings and trainings
• Assist with other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including hiking, running, crouching, and carrying children
• Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings and varying weather conditions and temperatures

Training:

• Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and O2 (provided by Y upon hire)
• Y Camp training required before camp sessions, including online safety courses (campers arrive June 1)
• New Employee Orientation required within one week of hire
