Job summary

The Department of Transportation is seeking Civil Engineering Interns to support the Staten Island Ferry engineering program. You will assist in drawings, design, and investigations, with field work and contract documentation as needed.

Minimum qualifications include a civil engineering degree and strong English communication skills. Work is based at 1 Bay St, Staten Island, NY with regular hours Mon–Fri, 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Staten Island Ferry DDFE on waterfront civil marine design and construction projects.
• Prepare drawings and details using AutoCAD; assist in research, investigations, and studies.
• Contribute to preparation of contract documents, meeting attendance, and field reviews.
• Provide design reviews, life estimates, and cost estimates; support in project scope development and feasibility studies.
