Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation seeks a Waterfront Project Engineer - Civil Engineer III to support plans, specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications for marine and waterfront projects. The role involves supervising design/construction, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with external consultants and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Four years of full‑time civil engineering experience with at least two years in a professional capacity.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology; substitutions described in the posting.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology and field inspection/report writing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or review plans, permit applications, designs, specifications, scopes of services, budgets, and cost estimates.
• Oversee and direct the work of outside consultants and contractors.
• Review submittals, payment applications, extra work requests, and claims by consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Prepare construction bid documents including technical specifications and contract language.
• Coordinate responses to inquiries and manage staff, contracts and consultants.
