Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol seeks a Civil Engineer to join our Walnut Creek or Oakland office to manage waterfront projects from concept through construction closeout. You will work within the Civil Group, coordinating with clients, staff, and subconsultants to deliver complex infrastructure projects for ports, harbors, and urban waterfronts.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, 6–10 years of experience, FE/EIT, and AutoCAD/Civil3D proficiency; a PE license is preferred and some travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited university; Master’s preferred
• FE exam completed or EIT certification; required
• PE license; preferred
• 6–10 years of experience in general civil engineering
• Competence in roadway, paving, grading, drainage, H&H, water and sanitary sewer
• Ability to plan, schedule work and meet budgets and timelines
• Software proficiency: AutoCAD, Civil3D, MS Word & Excel
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Availability and willingness to travel
• Background check per NIST 800-171; E-Verify compliance

Responsibilities

• Prepares engineering design documents from concept to construction drawings and specs
• Assembles data from reports, maps, drawings and soil/tests data
• Assist or act as Project Manager to prepare scopes of work and budgets; track scope and budgets
• Interface with clients to manage requirements and expectations
• Coordinate with staff and subconsultants to set project priorities
• Determine project costs via quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
• Create feasibility studies by analyzing design and environmental impacts
• Produce construction specifications, plans, and schedules
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and permits for SF Bay area
• Monitor progress with on-site inspections and quality control
• Respond to client inquiries and provide technical information
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
