Job summary

A youth camp in Maine is seeking staff for Waterfront and Swim Positions to teach swimming to campers. Responsibilities include supervising recreation swims, enforcing safety, and living with campers. Ideal candidates have swim or lifeguard experience and can work collaboratively in a flexible environment. Training and certification will be provided before the camp season begins, ensuring readiness for teaching swimming and best practices on the waterfront.

Qualifications

• Previous swim or lifeguard experience is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a flexible environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming lessons to campers.
• Oversee recreation swims and enforce safety procedures.
• Live with campers and act as a positive role model.

Waterfront and Swim Positions

Teach swimming to campers on beautiful Moose Pond in Maine. Founded in 1902, Wyonegonic is a residential camp for girls ages 8‑15 with a rich history of camp tradition. Campers learn about themselves in a non‑competitive atmosphere and enjoy the beauty of friendships. Live and work in the simplicity of the outdoors on our large outdoor lakeside property.

Waterfront and Swim Positions are for staff who can instruct in lesson programs, oversee recreation swims and safety procedures on the lakeside waterfront.

Training and Certification is available and starts June 8. Work is available through August 13 or 24.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming lessons to campers.
• Oversee recreation swims and enforce safety procedures on the lakeside waterfront.
• Live with campers in lakefront cabins and act as a positive role model.
• Supervise, teach and encourage campers in a non‑competitive camp program.
• Instruct in at least one activity area such as ropes, climbing wall, sailing, canoe, SUP, archery, riflery, windsurfing, creative arts, horseback riding, etc.

Qualifications

• Previous swim or lifeguard experience is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a flexible environment.

Training & Certification

Wyonegonic Camps provides and covers the cost for all necessary certifications and training on site in June for those who are not currently certified (American Red Cross WSI and Waterfront Lifeguard).
