Job summary

Bay County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance on critical water and wastewater equipment across multiple sites. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to document all maintenance and repairs accurately for supervisory review.

The incumbent will learn to operate backhoes, loaders, and related machinery, work outdoors, and be prepared to respond during disaster events as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in repair and maintenance of equipment typical to industrial plants, water/wastewater facilities, or related systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive preventative maintenance on equipment (pumps, valves, compressors, gates, etc.).
• Maintains records of maintenance and repairs and reports to Foreman or Mechanic II.
• Assists in fabrication or installation of minor equipment and piping and in performing vibration analysis and thermal imaging for predictive maintenance.
