Job summary

City of Amarillo is seeking a Treatment Plant Operator I for the Hollywood WWTP. The role requires indirect supervision, shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will assist in operation and quality control to meet federal, state, and city standards.

The candidate will monitor plant flow, collect samples, perform tests, and maintain records. A high school diploma is required, with certification within one year and a Texas Driver's License. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• TCEQ Class D Wastewater Treatment Certification within 1 year of employment.
• Texas Driver's License (Class C) required.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform rounds to ensure plant processes run correctly.
• Monitor and record plant flow.
• Collect samples for laboratory analysis and perform standard tests.
• Maintain operation records every 2 hours and report status to supervisor.
• Inspect and service pumps, motors, engines, and blowers; file maintenance requests as needed.
• Manage plant flow distribution to various units and remove debris from clarifier.
• Communicate plant status and hazards to oncoming operator.
• Program duties as assigned by supervisor.
