Job summary

Contovo is seeking a Superintendent to lead water and wastewater projects in the Houston area. You will manage self-perform crews and subcontractors, own the site schedule, and ensure work is completed safely, on time and within budget.

The role requires hands-on experience with underground utilities, yard piping, concrete structures and mechanical installation, plus strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate with engineers, inspectors and owners.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of water and wastewater construction experience.
• Track record of running projects as Superintendent.
• Hands-on knowledge of underground utilities, yard piping, concrete and mechanical/equipment installation.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and schedules.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day site operations on plant improvements, lift and pump stations, and utility/pipeline work.
• Leading self-perform crews and managing subcontractors.
• Owning the site schedule, including three-week look-ahead planning.
• Driving a strong safety culture with daily briefings and OSHA compliance.
• Maintaining quality control and coordinating inspections and testing.
• Planning tie-ins, bypass pumping and live-system work with minimal disruption.
• Completing daily reports and site documentation in company software.
• Working with PM/PE on RFIs, submittals, change orders and procurement.
• Supporting start-up, testing and commissioning, and punch list closeout.
• Developing and mentoring foremen and crew members.

Superintendent - Water & Wastewater Infrastructure | Houston, TX

We are partnered with a fast-growing, Houston-based water and wastewater contractor that self-performs a large share of its field work. The business has grown significantly year over year, with strong momentum projected into next year.

The company delivers municipal and utility infrastructure across the Houston area, including treatment plant improvements, lift and pump stations, and utility work. Projects currently range from $1M to $10M and are growing toward $15M-$20M+. It's a close-knit company that invests heavily in technology and automation.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a growing field leadership team and run your own water and wastewater projects from mobilization through closeout. You'll lead self-perform crews and subcontractors to deliver safely, on schedule and on budget. As project sizes grow, so will the scale of the work you lead.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day site operations on plant improvements, lift and pump stations, and utility/pipeline work
• Leading self-perform crews (excavation, yard piping, concrete, mechanical and equipment installation) and managing subcontractors
• Owning the site schedule, including three-week look-aheads, sequencing, and manpower and equipment planning
• Driving a strong safety culture: daily briefings, trenching and shoring, confined space, excavation and OSHA compliance
• Maintaining quality control and coordinating inspections and testing with engineers, city/utility inspectors and owner representatives
• Planning and carrying out tie-ins, bypass pumping and live-system work with minimal disruption
• Completing daily reports, production tracking and site documentation in company software
• Working with the PM/PE on RFIs, submittals, change orders and material procurement
• Supporting start-up, testing and commissioning, and driving punch list and closeout
• Developing and mentoring foremen and crew members

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of water and wastewater construction experience
• A track record of running projects as a Superintendent. Strong Assistant Superintendents or General Foremen ready to step up are encouraged to apply
• Hands-on knowledge of underground utilities, yard piping, concrete structures and mechanical/equipment installation
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and schedules
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred

• OSHA 30
• Experience on both treatment plant and pipeline/utility projects
• Public/municipal experience (City of Houston, MUDs, utility districts)
• Comfortable with field technology for reporting and scheduling
