Job summary

Dewberry Engineers Incorporated in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Water/Wastewater Staff Engineer to join our growing Southeast water team with a focus on industrial treatment design.

The Staff Engineer will support water and wastewater design projects for industrial clients, collaborate with design teams across offices, and help meet client deadlines and budgets.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering is required.
• M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering is preferred.
• 1–3 years of progressive experience in water and wastewater projects.
• NC FE is preferred.
• AutoCAD and MS Office experience is required.
• Familiar with Modeling and GIS software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Water/Wastewater infrastructure experience is a plus.

• Assist with developing and managing water/wastewater programs focusing on treatment, management, and reuse.
• Work with design team across multiple offices to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.

The Staff Engineer will be responsible for supporting our team on water and wastewater design projects for industrial clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and managing water/wastewater programs with a focus on treatment, management, and reuse. Work includes treatment plant process evaluations and troubleshooting, feasibility studies, bench scale and pilot scale studies, design, plant operation, and regulatory negotiation/permitting.
• Work with design team across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
• Meet client deadlines and project budgets.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• B.S. Degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
• M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering (preferred).
• 1-3 years experience with progressive responsibilities for water and wastewater projects.
• NC FE preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft office is required.
• Familiar with Modeling and GIS software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff.
• Water/Wastewater infrastructure experience is a plus.
