Job summary

Burgess & Niple, a national civil engineering firm, seeks a Water/Wastewater Project Manager in Indiana to own major projects from planning through closeout. You will manage budgets, schedules, and risk while leading design teams and fostering strong client relationships.

You will mentor junior staff, contribute to proposals, and help develop opportunities using traditional and alternative delivery methods, growing with experienced teams in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the state of employment, or ability to be registered with reciprocity.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater collection, distribution, pumping, storage, treatment, and utility design.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager and technical resource for water and wastewater projects, managing budgets, schedules, and risk.
• Lead the planning and design of water/wastewater projects including treatment plants and transmission systems.
• Support project delivery from kickoff through closeout with focus on quality, on-time, and on-budget execution.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing clients and pursue new opportunities.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, statements of qualifications, and client-facing presentations.
• Mentor and develop junior staff in design and project delivery.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on delivering work using traditional and alternative delivery methods.

Join our nationally recognized team of civil engineering professionals as a Water/Wastewater Project Manager and take ownership of meaningful infrastructure projects that impact the communities we serve. You'll manage the full project lifecycle across water and wastewater collection, distribution pumping, storage and treatment while balancing budgets, schedules, and risk and building lasting client relationships. Beyond project delivery, you'll contribute to business development pursuits and mentor junior staff, growing your leadership skills and positioning yourself for continued advancement within the firm.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as project manager and technical resource for water and wastewater projects, managing budgets, schedules, and risk on assigned projects
• Lead the planning and design of water/wastewater projects including treatment plants, water transmission mains, water booster stations, sanitary sewers, sanitary force mains, sanitary pump stations, and developing master plans
• Support project delivery from kickoff through closeout, maintaining quality and contributing to strong client experiences through clear communication and on-time, on-budget execution
• Build and maintain relationships with existing clients while supporting pursuit of new opportunities
• Support development of statements of qualifications, proposals, and presentations for business development efforts creating an exemplary client experience throughout the delivery process
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute work using traditional and alternative project delivery methods
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff in design and project delivery
• Support development of strong client relationships with existing and prospective clients

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the state of employment, or ability to be registered with reciprocity
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater collection, distribution, pumping systems, storage, treatment, and utility infrastructure design
• Prior project management experience is a plus
• Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
• Servant leader committed to fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence while developing others
