Job summary

Burgess & Niple, a national civil engineering firm, seeks a Water/Wastewater Project Manager in Evansville, IN to own critical infrastructure projects from concept to completion.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and risk, mentor junior staff, and help develop client relationships while pursuing new business opportunities. PE licensure preferred; strong communication and leadership are essential. This role is grounded in a collaborative, growth-oriented team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• PE registration in the state or reciprocity.
• 8+ years of water/wastewater design/infrastructure experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager and technical resource for water and wastewater projects, managing budgets, schedules, and risk on assigned projects.
• Support project delivery from kickoff through closeout with quality and on-time, on-budget execution.
• Build and maintain client relationships while supporting pursuit of new opportunities.
• Contribute to statements of qualifications, proposals, and presentations for BD efforts.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on traditional and alternative project delivery methods.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff in design and delivery.

Join our nationally recognized team of civil engineering professionals as a Water/Wastewater Project Manager and take ownership of meaningful infrastructure projects that impact the communities we serve. You'll manage the full project lifecycle across water and wastewater collection, distribution pumping, storage and treatment while balancing budgets, schedules, and risk and building lasting client relationships. Beyond project delivery, you'll contribute to business development pursuits and mentor junior staff, growing your leadership skills and positioning yourself for continued advancement within the firm.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as project manager and technical resource for water and wastewater projects, managing budgets, schedules, and risk on assigned projects. Typical projects may include water/wastewater treatment plants, water transmission mains, water booster stations, sanitary sewers, sanitary force mains, sanitary pump stations and developing master plans
• Support project delivery from kickoff through closeout, maintaining quality and contributing to strong client experiences through clear communication and on-time, on-budget execution
• Build and maintain relationships with existing clients while supporting pursuit of new opportunities
• Support development of statements of qualifications, proposals, and presentations for business development efforts
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute work using traditional and alternative project delivery methods
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff in design and project delivery

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the state of employment, or ability to be registered with reciprocity
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater collection, distribution, pumping systems, storage, treatment, and utility infrastructure design
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam and/or MicroStation
• Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
