Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater to join our growing team in Syracuse, NY!

Water and wastewater management presents unique challenges from environmental, health, and economic issues to regulatory concerns. Our water management experts understand these complexities and apply their expertise in feasibility, design, and master planning, considering water as a precious natural resource. Our professionals develop creative and effective solutions for water management projects, ensuring communities receive safe, consistent water and wastewater distribution, collection, and treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Apply extensive knowledge of principles and practices independently across broad areas of assignments.
  • Prepare advanced engineering designs and technical data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize advanced techniques, theories, and practices to complete assignments.
  • Design and review project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Develop and implement new or improved design techniques and processes.
  • Analyze data, formulate solutions, and solve problems.
  • Prepare or review scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Develop proposals for professional services.
  • Provide guidance to engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed engineering tasks.
  • Represent the organization as an engineering expert.
  • Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D and collaborate with the design team to meet project budgets and deadlines.
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits as needed.
  • Prepare draft proposals and change orders.
  • Create conceptual layouts in consultation with project managers or clients.
  • Review hydraulic calculations and utility layouts.
  • Participate in team and client meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and senior engineers.
  • Design pump stations and review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Assist in processing contractor payments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering.
  • FE certification preferred; PE certification preferred.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in civil/environmental engineering, focusing on water/wastewater design.
  • Experience with linear pipeline work required.
  • Experience with pump station design and water & wastewater treatment systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD & OpenRoads is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment plant processes and design.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal English communications.

Compensation: $80,600 to $99,100 per year, depending on qualifications.
