Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Mechanical Engineer to lead evaluation, design and construction administration for municipal facilities, pumping stations and piping systems. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compliant projects on schedule and within budget.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in engineering from ABET-accredited program, 5–10 years of relevant experience, strong communication, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in evaluating and designing process piping and process mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid mechanics, and treatment processes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit or other 3D modeling software is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater treatment facility infrastructure and associated process mechanical systems.
• Develop plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for pumping stations, treatment facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Perform hydraulic analyses, equipment selection, and system sizing.
• Support project development activities including permitting and coordination with regulatory agencies.
• Provide construction administration services, including shop drawing review, field observations, and coordination with contractors.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
