McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Water Preconstruction Director to lead all preconstruction efforts on large, complex water and wastewater projects—from pursuit through handoff to construction.

This role drives pursuit strategies, leads CMAR and Progressive Design-Build efforts, and oversees estimates, schedule, and risk management. The position partners with operations, estimating, and design management, mentoring staff and advancing McCarthy’s water/wastewater market leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of estimating, design management and/or field management experience.
• Experience managing preconstruction for large-scale water/wastewater projects (> $100M).
• Proven ability to lead client relationships and cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of CMAR, design-build methods and GMP processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction for large water/wastewater projects from pursuit through handoff to construction.
• Develop pursuit strategy and participate in client meetings.
• Prepare and review cost estimates at all design milestones (10%–100%).
• Oversee risk management, budget control, and schedule integration.
• Mentor preconstruction staff and build vendor/owner relationships.
