Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is a premier construction firm actively seeking a Preconstruction Manager for the Water Preconstruction/Estimating team. You will lead bid activities, manage owner relationships, and drive budget-conscious preconstruction efforts on diverse projects.

Ideal candidates bring a strong background in estimating principles, proven leadership, and experience with water/industrial projects, ensuring safety and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or minimum of 5 years estimating, design management and/or field management experience.
• Deep knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Experience on municipal and/or industrial water and wastewater projects.
• Experience with alternative delivery projects, cost modeling and GMPs.
• Experience estimating self-perform disciplines, including labor and material pricing.
• Proven track record managing preconstruction for a range of projects.
• Experience with subcontracts, subcontractors or self-perform work.
• Ability to lead teams and develop employees while maintaining external relationships.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interviews and prepare for negotiated bids, acting as Bid Captain.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors and vendors.
• Track and manage project budget.
• Prepare qualifications aligned with contractual obligations.
• Implement and oversee preconstruction and construction schedules.
• Assist in training and development of project staff and manage risk, safety, and EEO/AA programs.
• Manage and organize documentation/deliverables for owner review.
• Represent McCarthy at design and coordination meetings and offer alternative solutions.
• Participate in prequalification, responses to RFPs/RFQs, and buyout log management.
