The City of Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Water and Wastewater Plant Mechanic to maintain, repair, and install plant equipment including pumps, pipes, and valves. The role requires troubleshooting complex systems and working with mechanical, electrical, and SCADA components.

Ideal candidates will hold a high school diploma, have at least two years of related experience, and be able to obtain federal security clearance. A valid driver's license and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with water and wastewater plant equipment or a maintenance-related field.
• Intermediate level of knowledge of mechanical principles.
• Basic computer skills.
• Obtain federal security clearance
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and use of safety equipment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs, and installation of water and wastewater plant equipment, including pumps, pipes, valves.
• Log all repairs and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with plant operations as directed.
• Monitor and inspect equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex systems, including electrical and mechanical components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete tasks.
• Follow safety procedures and use safety equipment.
• Follow established policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Available to work a rotating On Call schedule.
