Job summary

The City of Atlanta seeks a seasoned supervisor for wastewater collection or water distribution operations. The role leads a crew, coordinates maintenance, and ensures safety and compliance on job sites.

A CDL Class A and a Wastewater Collection System Operator License are required, with in-person work four days a week and one remote day in a hybrid setup. The position emphasizes staff training, record-keeping, and effective communication while overseeing field operations and ensuring quality

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wastewater collection systems and/or water distribution operations.
• Knowledge of site safety requirements and related regulations and policies.
• Skill in supervising maintenance of construction activities.
• Ability to read drawings, plat cards, GIS maps, etc.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and activity sheets.
• Ability to train and manage a group of employees.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to address concerns with diplomacy.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises assigned crew in sewer main breaks and sewer-related tasks.
• Oversees clearing blockages and catch basins maintenance.
• Ensures safe completion of jobs per rules and policy.
• Trains and coaches crew in repair and maintenance tasks.
• Maintains daily work orders and SOM system updates.
• Transports crew to sites and operates heavy equipment.
• Implements traffic and pedestrian safety measures.
• Inspects and assesses completed work.
• Provides input for performance evaluations.
• Responds to questions and assists with training.
