Job summary

City of Joseph is seeking a Water/Wastewater Operator in Training (OIT) to support operation, maintenance, and monitoring of treatment facilities under supervision. This hands-on role focuses on learning regulatory requirements, sampling, testing, and reporting while helping keep water and wastewater systems safe and compliant.

The position provides on‑the‑job training to obtain Water and Wastewater Treatment OIT certification within 12 months, with City support for training and certification,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn required.
• Experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operation and monitoring of treatment facilities.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems.
• Collect samples and support regulatory testing and reporting.
• Respond to system alerts and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Help maintain water, sewer, and public works infrastructure.
