Overview

The Nexus Water Group team seeks a Water-Wastewater Operator I. This entry-level role performs routine tasks in water and wastewater treatment facilities, assists with compliance, maintenance, safety, and general plant operations.

Work Location and Schedule

Position based near Corolla, NC. Schedule: Monday–Friday, with after-hours and weekend on-call support possible.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain treatment equipment, ensuring environmental compliance and adherence to policies.
• Perform repairs, request external maintenance for major repairs, and assist in emergency procedures.
• Prepare reports, maintain logs, and ensure plant safety and cleanliness.
• Conduct inspections, handle customer inquiries, and perform related duties.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of mechanical work experience.
• High school diploma; ability to obtain First-Level operator license within 1 year; valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred: First-level operator license, experience in chemical treatment, and water/wastewater utility field.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, read technical data, and communicate effectively.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and mobile devices; ability to learn internal software.

Work Environment

• Potential after-hours and weekend support.
• Some travel within the service area.
• Shift work and weekend scheduling may be required.
