Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with an associate’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field.
• Two years of experience working in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Must maintain passing scores on state examinations for Wastewater Laboratory Analysis Certification and Bacteriological Methods for Analysis of Drinking Water

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized and specialized laboratory tests to determine compliance with permits.
• Prepare solutions and reagents; conduct tests (TSS/Volatile, BOD, Fecal Coliform, DO, pH, COD, nitrate screens, etc.).
• Interpret tests and prepare required reports.
• Enter lab data into computer records and maintain accuracy.
• Maintain QA programs, monitor equipment, and uphold state certification.
• Collect, preserve, and send samples for testing; coordinate pre-treatment samples.
• Operate lab equipment and maintain records; ensure proper lab safety.
