Job summary

Brunswick County Public Utilities is seeking an Instrumentation Control Technician to join the Instrumentation & Electrical Division. The role maintains electrical and instrumentation systems for county water and wastewater facilities, including PLCs, SCADA, and related equipment.

Responsibilities include installation, calibration, programming, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs, with emphasis on safety procedures and record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the appropriate certification or associate degree in instrumentation/electronics, electrical engineering technology, computer technology, or related field.
  • Experience in instrumentation, electrical, and/or radio-related work is required or strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to perform skilled work maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems in water and wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on instrumentation, controls, and industrial electrical systems/equipment.
  • Program software and equipment related to instrumentation and controls.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and order parts as needed.
  • Interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic drawings and diagrams to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Respond to emergency repair calls and maintain inventories of parts.
