Job summary

HDR is seeking a Water/Wastewater Hydraulic Modeler to join our Water Business Group in California. You will develop hydraulic models from GIS data and as-built drawings, calibrate models with field data, and analyze key hydraulics metrics to support safe, sustainable water infrastructure.

You will prepare reports and project master plans, coordinate with teams, and contribute to budgets and schedules while staying current with industry practices and client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or related engineering fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water-focused projects.
  • Requires PE license recognized by the licensing board (PE or P.Eng).
  • Ability to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks.
  • Active participation in an employee-owned culture is a must.

  • Analyze flow, demand, population, water quality, and facilities condition data.
  • Perform hydraulic analyses using various software programs.

  • Maintain task and project budgets and schedules.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Assist with marketing activities, including client outreach and proposal development.

In the role of Water/Wastewater Hydraulic Modeler, we'll count on you to:

  • Developing hydraulic models using GIS data and as-built drawings
  • Collecting and assessing field data for hydraulic model calibration
  • Analyzing flow, demand, population, water quality, and facilities condition data
  • Performing hydraulic analyses utilizing a variety of software programs
  • Performing technical research into product information, design codes, and regulatory standards
  • Preparing technical reports and master plans, including the development of text, tables and figures
  • Communicating effectively with all project team members
  • Maintaining task/project budgets and schedules
  • Managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Assisting with marketing activities, including client outreach and proposal development

Preferred Qualifications
  • MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • Proficiency in fundamentals of water/wastewater hydraulics and the analysis of demand and supply aspects of both pressure and gravitypipe systems and pump stations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Excellent computational analytics, writing and communication skills
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or related engineering fields
  • A minimum of 3 years experienceexecuting technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water focused projects
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Abilityto make independent decisions and be accountable for the results
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
