Job summary

The City of Monroe, NC, is seeking a skilled equipment operator to perform semiskilled work operating medium to heavy equipment for water and wastewater systems. You will work under the supervision of a Crew Leader and perform tasks in inclement conditions.

Responsibilities include operating a range of equipment, assisting with installation and maintenance, using CMMS to manage work orders, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and experience operating motorized equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks outdoors in all weather.
• Possession of valid North Carolina driver’s license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes, dump trucks, and related equipment for water/wastewater work.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assist with installation of mains and service lines.
• Respond to emergencies and on-call duties.
• Use CMMS to write and close work orders.
• Work in high-traffic areas.
