Job summary

The City of Monroe, NC seeks a civil engineer to participate in planning, design, and construction of water and sewer projects. You will review plans, prepare bid documents, and coordinate with inspectors under the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Manager.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in utility engineering, a civil engineering degree, and familiarity with CAD software. A North Carolina driver’s license and engineering intern certification are required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of utility engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD software and plan reviews.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, develop, and design public utility infrastructure projects.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and bid documents for water/sewer work.
• Review permit utility approvals for developments.
• Provide technical information to contractors and the public.
• Assist in project management and contract writing for consultants.
