Job summary

Stanley Consultants, Chicago, IL, is seeking a Water/Wastewater Section Manager. The role provides technical and administrative supervision to the section, aligning design work with professional standards, budgets, and schedules, while coordinating staffing and project priorities.

You will supervise staff, balance workloads, ensure quality control, and may act as Project Manager for key projects, with emphasis on client satisfaction and career development within a fiscally responsible framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Responsibilities

• Supervises all staff activities within an engineering section.
• Assigns priorities and balances workloads among staff members.
• Coordinates and monitors direct/indirect labor utilization among section staff members. Ensures that section loading calendars are completed on a timely basis.
• Responsible for quality control of work produced by the section.
• Recommends hiring, salaries, promotion, transfer, demotion and termination of section members.
• Oversees staff development within the section; provides opportunities for training and career development.
• Ensures project assignments for the section are completed on schedule and within budget parameters.
• When applicable, serves as the Project Manager for key department or section projects.
• Performs other functions delegated by the Department Manager.
