Job summary

MRB Group in Austin seeks an Engineering Project Manager - Business Development Lead to drive growth in water/wastewater projects. The role blends engineering leadership with strategic outreach, client relationship management, and staff mentoring across multiple offices.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 10+ years in water/wastewater and proven ability to win and manage projects, while guiding teams to design excellence and innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a Professional Engineer license.
• 10+ years of experience in water and/or wastewater engineering, with client-relations experience.
• Strong understanding of design and construction processes.
• Strong project management skills for large initiatives including system consolidation and long-term infrastructure solutions.
• Experience with Texas municipal governments and knowledge of grant funding processes.
• Demonstrated track record mentoring and developing staff.
• Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with proactive, self-directed approach.
• Comfort engaging with executives, developers, institutional clients, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development initiatives across target markets, including outreach and partnerships.
• Identify, qualify, and pursue new project opportunities aligned with the firm’s goals.
• Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape market strategy and growth plans.
• Support proposal development, interviews, and presentations with design insight.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business.
• Track market trends and emerging opportunities.
• Work with design teams to ensure client needs and project goals are communicated.
• Mentor and develop the Texas Engineering Team.
