Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is offering a Water/Wastewater Engineer Intern position in the Chicago area (O’Hare), Mokena, Naperville, or Crystal Lake, IL. The role includes on‑the‑job experience supporting environmental and construction groups with design and construction of facilities and direct client collaboration.

You will assist with pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants, while gaining exposure to field work and rehabilitation projects. May/June 2027 start; GPA 3.0+; travel required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a 4-year Civil Engineering degree, Environmental emphasis.
• GPA minimum 3.0/4.0.
• Available to start May or June 2027.
• Ability to travel throughout the Chicago area (own transportation).
• Team-oriented with strong written, verbal, computer and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with evaluation, study and design of potable water distribution and wastewater systems.
• Support field work, studies and design of water system rehabilitation.
• Contribute to stormwater system management and water main/sanitary sewer installation projects.
