Merrick is a mid-sized, multi-discipline, employee-owned consulting engineering firm that prides itself on building deep relationships with its customers. Our water group in Colorado Springs, Colorado is growing and seeking collaborative Water/Wastewater Engineers to join our hybrid team.
Annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $132,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater systems.
- Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports, and work products.
- Provide construction support and oversight, including administration, limited inspection, document review for design conformance standards, and support for municipal water and sewer operations and maintenance.
- Perform independent design tasks, review designs by others, and prepare bid documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Organize drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables with limited supervision (after receiving initial instructions from the project manager).
- Make sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative and judgment, and possess in-depth industry knowledge.
- Interface with clients and local, state, and federal government agencies.
- Lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communication.
- Some travel may be required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering (A.B.E.T. Accredited).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state with the ability to obtain licensure in Colorado within 6 months.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interface with clients and government agencies.
- Ability to learn and apply Merrick procedures as required.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and insurability under Merrick’s insurance.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Colorado Water Distribution System Operator license and/or Colorado Wastewater Collections System Operator license.
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with water/sanitary sewer modeling, BioWin modeling, GIS systems, and related areas.
- Public works design experience with government entities.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Local candidates are preferred.
