Water and Wastewater Linear Design Engineer

Water and Wastewater Linear Design Engineer

This position will be hired as an Engineer II, III, or IV based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Pay Ranges:

  1. Engineer II: $85,488 to $106,870
  2. Engineer III: $94,099 to $117,624
  3. Engineer IV: $113,859 to $142,313

What to look forward to:

In this role, you will work on water and wastewater pipeline and creek stabilization projects, including raw water and finished water systems as well as wastewater collection systems. Our systems include 200 miles of raw water mains, 2,200 miles of potable water mains, and 1,800 miles of wastewater mains with over 400 creek crossings. In this role, you will:

  • Work with Engineers, CAD Designers, and utility partners with a wide range of expertise in the delivery of raw water systems, finished water systems, wastewater collection systems, and creek stabilization projects.
  • Plan, design, and deliver complex raw water and finished water distribution and transmission, and wastewater collection systems projects including creek crossings and creek stabilization.
  • Oversee data collection, validation, and analysis for projects including utility locates, infrastructure and land surveys, geotechnical and environmental investigations, land acquisition requirements, material selection, and creek crossing inspection records.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record (Engineer III and Engineer IV level) or assistant design technical lead (Engineer II) responsible for all aspects of internal design for finished water, non-potable water, raw water, and wastewater systems incorporating safety by design best practices.
  • Serve as the design technical lead (Engineer III and Engineer IV level) or assistant design technical lead (Engineer II level) for externally contracted design projects including drafting and reviewing scopes of work, participating on selection teams, and reviewing and advising on technical quality of submittal documents from external engineers and contractors.
  • Manage activities related to projects such as issues management, communication, environmental, real estate acquisition, permit plan, schedule, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Report on program and project status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop quality control processes such as workflows, templates, standards and specifications, and checklists.
  • Mentor, train, and oversee the work of junior engineers (Engineer III and Engineer IV level).
  • Provide technical guidance to other employees and contractors.

What will it take to be successful in this position?

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Possession of a valid unrestricted Driver’s License is required.
  • Small and large-diameter water and wastewater pipeline design experience.
  • Creek stabilization improvements design and permitting experience is highly valued.
  • A minimum of 2 years of directly relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience or;
  • A minimum of 4 years of directly relevant experience with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • A minimum of 7 years of directly relevant experience is also acceptable.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly desired and required within 6 months of the date of hire.
