Job summary

Bowman invites applications for a Water/Wastewater Engineer I to join our Columbus, OH team. This entry-level position supports design and analysis on moderately complex water resources projects under supervision.

Bachelor's in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering required; internship or FE exam a plus. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and hydraulic modeling is preferred; strong MS Office skills expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline required at time of employment.
  • Entry level position, no prior experience required. Any professional experience is a plus.
  • Academic or internship experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, water distribution, pump stations and operations strongly preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and hydraulic modeling strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on difficult assignments and possible solutions.
  • Work closely with more senior staff members to learn about and assist with Planning work.
  • Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
  • Work side by side with the project team on your specialty in water/wastewater projects to improve water resources of our communities.
  • Assist with development of plans, specifications and reports.
  • Contribute to designs based on field investigation and inspections.
  • Complete detailed design work and review computations.
  • Coordinate project design aspects and prepare plans, technical specifications, contract documents and estimates.

Purpose

Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on moderately complex projects.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
  • Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on difficult assignments and possible solutions. Work is completed using standard engineering techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement.
At The Operational And Company Level
  • Work closely with more senior staff members to learn about and assist with Planning work.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
