Job summary

Wilson Engineers in Tempe, Arizona is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team. The role involves reviewing plans, performing field inspections, managing submittals and RFIs, and preparing daily field reports to ensure project quality and compliance.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in construction, with a degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred, and proficiency in MS Office plus scheduling tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in the Construction Industry, preferably as a Civil Construction Inspector, Field Engineer, or similar.
• Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar is a plus
• Knowledge of construction means & methods and quality control measures, along with knowledge and experience in water/waste-water construction is a plus
• Proactive and self-motivated individual, able to meet challenging time constraints
• Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook software capabilities
• Familiar with Microsoft Project and P6 Scheduling software a plus
• ICC Reinforced Concrete and or AWS Certifications is a plus

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop a thorough understanding of project scope, objectives, and technical requirements
• Perform field observations and inspections to verify construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes
• Manage the review and coordination of submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to support efficient project execution
• Prepare accurate daily field reports documenting construction progress, key activities, site conditions, and any issues requiring resolution
• Serve as a key liaison between owners, contractors, and project stakeholders, fostering clear communication and proactive issue resolution
• Review contractor Schedule of Values and payment applications to verify work completed and support accurate project billing
• Monitor and evaluate contractor schedules, identifying potential risks and helping keep projects on track
• Develop and manage project punch lists, coordinating with project teams to ensure timely completion and successful project closeout
