Job summary

Job description

Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector

Dewberry is currently seeking a Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector for work in Rancho Cordova or Manteca, CA office locations. The position will perform a variety of investigation and construction related work in support of small and large infrastructure projects. The inspector will manage construction documents, conduct inspections, collect field data, establish quantity and cost estimates, and work independently under the supervision of project managers.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, provisions, and specifications.
  • Proactively identify field issues and discuss solutions with supervisor and contractor.
  • Advise contractors of violations of safety procedures and recommend adjustments to bring these violations into compliance.
  • Execute field measurements of pay items; maintain daily diaries, materials notebooks, redline as‑built plans, understanding progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
  • Oversee and document materials testing such as soil compaction, concrete, and asphalt field tests.
  • Document all field activities and work collaboratively with the owner and contractor.
Required Skills & Experience
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.
  • Associates degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 6+ years of experience in construction inspection. Water or wastewater facility inspection experience preferred.
  • Experience with foundations, buildings, underground utilities, earthwork, asphalt, and concrete.
  • Works in a timely fashion to meet project requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub‑consultants, contractors, and agency review staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform quantity and engineering computations.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat, and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools, and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $54.02/Hr. - $75.00/Hr. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
