Job summary

Carollo Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Field Construction Inspector to support water and wastewater facilities projects in the Philadelphia area.

You will inspect construction contracts, review plans for constructability, and coordinate outages with client facilities to ensure project success. The role requires 2–5 years of field inspection experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and OSHA 10-hour safety certification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate construction-related system outages with client facilities.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and project files.

Responsibilities
  • Inspectsconstruction contract related to water and wastewater facilities
  • Reviews contract plans and specifications for constructability, notes, errors, omissions and potential problem areas
  • Schedules, plans, coordinates, and completes site inspections
  • Coordinates construction related system outages with client facilities
  • Prepares complete inspection reports and maintains a daily diary
  • Maintains complete project files including a project photo file
  • Keeps detailed records of construction progress, changed conditions, and as built drawings
  • Prepares monthly estimates of quantity of construction completed
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with contractors, consultant, and owner
  • Responsible for actions and performance of Junior Level Construction Inspectors
  • Mentors and trains Junior Construction Inspectors
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of standard construction specifications, codes and special standards, methods, materials and equipment used in construction of water and wastewater facilities
  • Working knowledge of methods of soil compaction and density testing procedures, properties and uses of concrete, and techniques of handling, placing, curing and sampling concrete
  • In-depth understanding of OSHA Construction Safety Orders
  • Ability to keep neat, accurate, and concise records
  • Work independently with minimum supervision
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong computer and internet skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years experience of responsible field inspection
  • Completion of OSHA 10 hour safety course and other construction training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two year technical or Associate Degree in a related technical field
Compensation Range

An employee’s pay within the range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
