Job summary

WithersRavenel in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Project Engineer for our Asset Management team. You will help municipalities understand, prioritize, and plan for water and wastewater infrastructure, delivering plans and analyses that improve reliability and sustainability.

This role requires a Civil/Environmental engineering background, a PE license, and 4+ years of relevant experience. You’ll work in a hybrid office setting, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or related Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
  • 4+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering, utility infrastructure, asset management or related consulting services.
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate leadership in engineering planning, asset management strategies, and technical problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Asset Management Plans for water and wastewater utilities.
  • Evaluate infrastructure condition and performance using GIS and asset data; perform risk assessments and support capital planning.
  • Analyze asset data to prioritize maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement strategies.
  • Serve as technical resource for municipal clients; participate in meetings/workshops and present findings.
  • Prepare technical reports and deliverables; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
