Job summary

Dorchester County in South Carolina seeks a senior leader to plan, direct, and supervise the construction, operation, and maintenance of its water and sewer facilities. You will ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgets, and provide leadership to staff and contractors.

Responsibilities include overseeing wells and pump stations, developing policies, and coordinating with county executives and other agencies. A strong engineering background and licenses are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
• Must possess or obtain within 2 years Class “A” Water Treatment; Class “B” Water Distribution; and Class “A” wastewater collection licenses.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, monitor and supervise construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of water and sewer facilities and systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Oversee daily operation of wells and pump stations and supervise staff.
• Develop and administer departmental budgets and approve expenditures.
• Develop department policies, procedures and long-range operating plans.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

Eight years of related experience or equivalent
